Brett Harvey

Director of Title IX and EEO Programs

Brett Harvey is the Director of Title IX and EEO Programs for Mississippi State University. He works to ensure the university’s compliance with a range of civil rights laws including Title IX, Title VII, the Campus SAVE Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

Since arriving at Mississippi State in 2014, Brett has overseen the investigation and resolution of Title IX and other civil rights complaints, the development and implementation of training programs for all incoming students and employees, and the creation and revision of university civil rights policies. He also helps oversee university accessiblity projects, including facilities renovation and web access.  Brett enjoys teaching courses on legal issues in higher education and coaching MSU's debate team.

Before coming to Mississippi State, Brett practiced employment law and appellate litigation with Phelps Dunbar, LLP in Jackson, Mississippi.  During his time in private practice, Brett also taught as an adjunct professor at the Mississippi College School of Law and served as president of the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit. Prior to that, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable E. Grady Jolly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit after graduating from Harvard Law School.
